When practicing, teams use various methods to communicate to each other when to start a point. A recommended method is to have one team yell “sticks up” and the OTHER team yell “go." Using this method confirms that both teams are ready to start the point. If a team is not ready when the other team calls “sticks up” they can respond with calling a timeout. That team will have at most one minute to finish their discussions and will call “sticks up” when they are ready to play again.
This method works well because both teams will be ready, allowing teams to practice taking good strikes. This method also allows teams to take time between points to coach and discuss strategy and skills.
