Coach Note: These drills must be run in order. Do not progress if players are not calm and comfortable.
¶ Mask Flood and Clear
Objective: Remove fear of minor equipment issues.
Execution:
- At the surface, allow a small amount of water into the mask.
- Clear using steady nose exhalation.
- Return to calm breathing before repeating.
Coach Eyes:
- Panic reactions
- Rushed clearing
Rule: Stay calm. Reset fully before repeating.
Objective: Build calm breathing and snorkel clearing confidence.
Execution:
- Stage 1 – Circle: Players in shallow water.
- Submerge briefly, allow snorkel to fill.
- Surface, blow clear, breathe calmly.
- Repeat slowly with full recovery.
- Stage 2 – Swim: Move slowly across the pool.
- Keep snorkel in mouth at all times.
- Clear while moving, no head lifting.
Quick Tip: Keep a small reserve of air to clear before breathing in.
Coach Eyes:

Objective: Build confidence descending and returning calmly.
Execution:
- Inhale calmly.
- Tip forward and allow body to sink.
- Touch bottom.
- Return immediately to surface.
- Reset breathing fully before repeating.
Rules:
- Short dives only
- Surface early
Coach Eyes:
- Rushing descent
- Staying down too long
Objective: Introduce controlled movement at depth.
Execution:
- Dive to the bottom.
- Move 1–2 meters along the pool floor.
- Surface early and reset.
Focus:
- Balance first
- Short distance only

Execution:
- Dive to the puck.
- Push 1–2 meters.
- Stop the puck.

- Push only, no hitting
