Coach Note: These drills are used to introduce roles, spacing, and awareness through play. Keep everything simple, controlled, and game-relevant.
Objective: Teach players to move into space to support teammates.
Execution:
- One player controls the puck.
- Other players move to open space nearby.
- Stay close enough to receive a pass.
Key Rule: If you’re not on the puck, get open.
Coach Eyes:
- Players clustering around the puck
- Players staying still
Badge Opportunities:
Objective: Introduce attacking vs defending in a controlled format.
Execution:
- Call small groups (2v2 or 3v3).
- Use a reduced playing area.
- Rotate players frequently.
Focus:
- Defenders get between puck and goal
- Attackers move forward with control
Coach Eyes:
- Players chasing instead of positioning
- Defenders not protecting goal space
Badge Opportunities:
Objective: Apply attacking, defending, and support in simple gameplay.
Execution:
- Divide players into two small teams.
- Play in a reduced area.
- Stop play frequently to reset positioning.
Coach Role:
- Reinforce roles (attack / defend)
- Highlight good positioning and support
- Correct unsafe or chaotic play
Focus:
- Spacing
- Support
- Safe participation

- Roles are learned through play, not explanation
