¶ Level 2 – Exit Standards
Level 2 assessment is game based.
The player must demonstrate the following during live scrimmage under normal game conditions.
Assessment is continuous and observational.
¶ 1. Rules Understanding
- Stops immediately on call signal.
- Lines up correctly for start.
- Recognizes common fouls (obstruction, illegal advancement, shielding, stick infringement).
- Understands free puck procedure.
- Resets correctly after goal.
- Substitutes safely and legally.
- Swims forward with puck under control.
- Changes direction while maintaining control.
- Flicks to space and recovers possession.
- Protects puck under light pressure.
- Uses kelp dive when puck is stationary and close.
- Uses duck dive when play is moving.
- Surfaces to reposition appropriately.
- Tracks midwater when appropriate.
¶ 4. Defensive Understanding
- Applies pressure without over committing.
- Does not dive past the puck.
- Supports pressure player.
- Protects middle space.
- Maintains defensive depth (first, second, third defender roles).
¶ 5. Attacking Understanding
- Gains ground with possession.
- Offers passing support.
- Makes simple 2 on 1 decisions.
- Continues play if defender commits early.
- Applies immediate pressure after losing possession.
- Protects middle during defensive transition.
- Gains ground or delays appropriately after winning possession.
- Provides immediate support after turnover.
- Maintains 2-3-1 structure during play.
- Understands forward and back defensive roles.
- Maintains width and depth.
- Forms visible support triangle around the puck.
- Assessment occurs during live scrimmage.
- No isolated drill testing.
- Player must demonstrate predictable, structured behavior.
- Coach may observe across multiple sessions.
